New Year, New Theme

Welcome back to school and back to Book Club!

The first meeting of the year will be Wednesday, September 2, in the library after school.

This year's theme is "Don't judge a book by it's film." We will read books that have been adapted into movies, then watch the movie versions on Film and Food Fridays.

The first book of the year will be announced at the first meeting.

Mrs. Richart, Mrs. Price and I hope to see you there!

I just finished reading The Outsiders, and I absolutly love this book. I had never heard of it before so everything was new. I fell in love with almost all the characters, especially Johnny and Ponyboy, of course. I love how this story separates the socials and the greasers almost the entire time, until someone actually gets hurt. It's so sad because both groups were the same and the only difference between them was the side they came from. The way they all come together at the end, the greasers and the socials was pretty amazing. I could tell that Ponyboy really wanted everyone to be equal at the beginning, no one knew what they were even fighting for in the first place, they just fought. I think it's sad that Johnny and Dally had to die after saving those children, finally getting the respect they deserve. I have deep sympathy for the greasers, because none of them are bad kids, they just needed some direction that wasn't fighting. All in all this book was pretty awesome.
